Teens struggle with friendships in pandemic

High school students have gone through a lot during this pandemic — remote learning, quarantines, depression — but maybe an overlooked area is relationships.

Teens are such social people, and they haven’t been able to hang out because of the pandemic.

“It can be hard if they can’t hang out,” freshman Madisyn Randolph said. “Our feelings could disconnect because you haven’t been able to spend time with your friends or talk to them.”

Some students are in school, others are remote. How do you stay close? Or meet new people?

“It’s hard because some friends are online and aren’t able to go outside and hang out,” Kaidan Flashman said.

It’s not easy keeping friendships alive when you’re relegated to talking through social media or FaceTime.
