Mr. Panther candidates announced

The candidates for DHS’ annual Mr.Panther contest were announced on Monday.

Seniors Reid Liston, Jack Hileman, R.D Pipkin, Jace Jenkins and Jalen Johnston are contenders for the title of Mr.Panther, a senior boy chosen through donations each year.

“It’s very cool to have been chosen, especially because I’m not an athlete in any form” Pipkin said. “I am also very thankful for the amount of support I’ve been given. I didn’t think I would have this much support, but I do and it’s really cool to have this experience.”

Donation cans have been set up in the commons and donations can be made during lunch throughout the week. All proceeds will go toward senior celebration.

“Senior Celebration was an event totally organized and managed by parents to provide a safe variety of things for the graduates to do the evening after graduation,” principal Tim Hamblin wrote in an email. “It is important to know that DHS is not part of this event… The only way a Senior Celebration will happen is if a parent group steps up to take it on and if Sedgwick County Health Department Covid-19 restrictions allow it.”
