Spring sports start March 1

The start of the spring sports season is approaching quickly.

March 1 is the first official day for practice for boys and girls track, girls soccer, boys golf, girls swimming, baseball, softball and boys tennis.

Athletes have spoken of their excitement about the coming season and are interested to see how the season goes.

Many students expressed goals to become stronger athletes — by improving their times or increasing their number of wins —  and possibly make it to state.

“I have been trying to practice in my backyard a lot,” said freshman Elisa Moyer, who is going out for soccer.

Junior Emma Tanner added: “Swimming at the DRC as much as I can.”

There is some uncertainty going into this season because of Covid-19 restrictions, but most students feel confident that their seasons will go smoothly.

“In my experience, with track it’s pretty easy to social distance,” sophomore Dominic Espinoza said.
