Counselors available for students after death of freshman

It was announced on the morning of March 1 a Derby High School freshman student had died.

DHS students were given the news on the same morning.

Principal Tim Hamblin announced to parents that “members of our Crisis Team are available to meet with students, individually and in groups, today as well as over the coming days and weeks.” 

Parents can also contact the school directly if they feel their child needs extra support and assistance in grief support. 

Hamblin asks that parents assist their children to “process through this difficult time. An acknowledgment of the tragedy is important, as is the attempt to maintain normalcy where possible.”
