Girls Soccer – Senior Syrah Caughron 

Q: What are your predictions for the season? 

A: “I’m very optimistic for this season. We have good players and I think that with teamwork, dedication and grit, we can definitely be successful.” 

Q: What are you most excited about? 

A: “I’m most excited about finishing out Derby soccer with some of my favorite girls and making a bunch of great memories for my senior season.”

 

Track – Senior Aneesa Abdul-Hameed

Q: What are your predictions for the season? Last year you said you wanted to break the school record, do you still have the same goals?

A: “I think that the whole team will be very successful this year. Both boys and girls are working hard to better themselves, and I’m really proud of the team. I said I wanted to break the school records and that is still the same for this year. I didn’t get a chance to show all that I can do on the track. I’m excited to get another chance to do that.”

 

Girls Swim – Junior Laci Simon 

Q: What are your predictions for the season? 

A: “This swim season is exciting. With several talented swimmers and divers,  we are set to place well at meets.”

Q: What are you most excited about? 

A: “I’m most excited about having a season and see all the improvements that all the girls will see throughout the season. I am also excited to grow as a team. My goals for this season is to improve my times and stay healthy.”

 

Softball – Senior Jaedyn Igo

Q: What are your predictions for the season? 

A: “Hopefully a winning season and a trip to state with no Covid interference,”

Q: What are you most excited about? 

A: “I’m most excited about making memories with my teammates,”

 

Baseball – Senior Jace Jenkins

Q: What are your predictions for the season? 

A: “We plan to win the state championship.”

Q: What are you most excited about? 

A: “Being able to play with my guys one last time.”

 

Boys tennis – Senior Ben Palivan 

Q: What are your predictions for the season? 

A: “I think we have a good chance to play great with the top varsity.”

Q: What are you most excited about? 

A: “The most thing that I am excited about is to go to meets and win them”

 

Boys golf – Sophomore Landon Francis

Q: What are your predictions for the season? 

A: “I’m really set on getting a full season in. I’m sure there will be tournaments the team can’t attend, but I think the team looks good this year and we could have a good chance at high placements in tournaments.”

Q: What are you most excited about? 

A: “Honestly, just getting to play. It’s been rough over the past year so it’s really great to get swinging again.”
