Page 4: Peer pressure can lead to negative behavior

Friendships make us happy, which is why we often strive to find quality connections. But sometimes our focus can be too intense, and in order to keep that friendship, we may start doing drugs, drinking alcohol, having sex and vaping.

Hey, being lonely sucks.

This is peer pressure.

Peer pressure happens all the time, whether it is in class, at a game or a party.

It ruins relationships, especially when it’s combined with “I will break up with you if you don’t….”

The “if you don’t” could be regarding sex, drugs, vaping, and drinking.

I’ve watched my friends’ relationships end due to their partner trying to get them to have sex or drink or do drugs because they thought it was the cool thing to do.

Friendships have drifted due to us going to high school and being different people. Some friendships ended due to just people changing and finding out who they are as a person.

But peer pressure changed a lot of friendships as well or maybe not even peer pressure but someone changing who they are to do drugs, drink or have sex.

Sometimes though not everyone felt like they could stop being friends because they had no one else so when there friends started to do drugs and have sex they felt like they had to do thoughs things as well.

But there are things you can do to get out of these peer pressure situations. Pay attention to how you feel when you’re in these situations or with these friends. If you feel unsafe and uncomfortable you might try talking to them. If you do try talking to them, explain how you feel about the situation but let’s be real, your teenagers do you think they would listen but it is always good to try. There are more options but the best thing you could do is find new friends with better values and the same beliefs.

Finding better friends and realizing how you feel is a great step in the right direction. This would help you move on and have a better high school experience with people you like to be around.
