Guys perspectives of getting asked to Hollyball

One of the many age-old questions is “do guys feel the same way girls do?”

The perfect time to figure that out was before Hollyball, the winter dance where girls make the grand gestures to ask.

“I do think many boys feel the same way as girls because we’re just as scared of getting rejected,” sophomore Derek Hubbard said.

The emotion is usually excitement or nervousness – or a combination of the two.

“Guys usually never get asked things like this, it’s always us asking girls, so I feel like we’re more excited,” junior Fletcher Weis said.

Not everyone has the same opinion, though.

“I don’t think guys feel the same because I don’t think these kinds of things are as important to guys,’ freshman Lucas Gifford said.

Some guys even tend to feel more calm in these situations and are not very worried about getting asked.

“Personally I just go with the flow. If it happens, then cool and I think most guys are like that,” sophomore Coen Sowden said.

For those in relationships, there wasn’t a bit of nervousness.

“I wasn’t nervous because my girlfriend and I had already planned on going together,” senior Ethan Hock said.

Some were even surprised by their girlfriends.

“I didn’t know that she was asking me at all so it was super surprising when she showed up with a sign,” sophomore Talen Neel.
