It’s only the second day of school this week, but there’s already been 70 new student and staff positive Covid-19 cases.

“We’re averaging around 25-35 student positives a day,” nurse Christy Higginbotham said.

According to the weekly Covid-19 Dashboard released by the school district, from Jan. 4-Jan 7, there were 45 positive cases.

From Jan. 10-Jan. 14, there were 151 positives. 

In January, there have been 266 positive student and staff cases at the high school, which is 11.8% of the student and staff population.

December: 22 total cases

November: 28 total cases

October: 27 total cases

September: 69 total cases

August: 35 total cases
