Seventeen members of the Philharmonic orchestra took a trip Monday to Southwestern College to participate in the honor orchestra.

“The trip was a nice learning experience and it was interesting to play with a lot of different people including a different conductor,” junior Hannah Parks said.

Apart from playing, the students had rehearsals and attended a college-level lecture on the Gershwins, who were famous pianists.

“This was my second time going, and I’m definitely better now than I was then. It’s always more fun when you can play the music,” junior Nolan Stokes said.

An experience like this is important for students like Stokes and Parks, who plan to continue playing in the future.

“I’ll definitely play in the future. I love the feeling of creating great music with a group of talented people,” Parks said.
