Students create windmills out of different materials

Teacher Brianna Bosley’s physical science classroom was given  a three-day assignment to come up with a company name and design their own windmills using materials such as paper, tin cans and plastic knives.

Other high school classes such as Reality 101 and Accounting help prepare students for the real world. Physical science helps students become entrepreneurs as they go through the process and display their work to others.

“We are supposed to make a windmill to help with energy, help make energy better basically, and we need to make it cheap so people can buy it,” freshman Daniel Zaker said.

Each group of students would have their company critiqued and their windmill tested by a panel of judges.

“At the end, there’s going to be a winner who has the best model, best company, or just (who) executed the task best,” freshman Adriana Dollarhide said.

“We’re not really aware of how many judges so far but people are going to be coming around asking questions about our company.”

The winning group will also receive a prize.
