Girls state wrestling update

Sophomores Amara Ehsa and Meya Howell will wrestle for Class 6-5A titles on Thursday at Hartman Arena.

 

Ehsa, who wrestles at 101 pounds, won all three matches Wednesday by pin. 

 

She beat Dodge City’s Jessica Rivera with the pin at 55 seconds, Wichita North’s Bilhah Bengi at 4:58, and Olathe Northwest’s Camryn West at 1:48. 

 

Howell, who’s at 191 pounds, also won all three matches by pin.

 

She beat DeSoto’s Gabby Chaney at 3:08, Topeka Seaman’s Alex Cannon at 2:59, and Liberal Leiliani Torres at 1:19. 

 

Sophomore Maddie Snowbarger and sophomore Trinty Williams also qualified for state. 

 

Williams, who wrestles at 170 pounds, lost her opening match but won her second. She is on the backside.
