On Saturday, April 23, six students qualified to compete in the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) this summer.

They will be heading to Louisville, Kentucky to compete for nationals.

“We expect to make it far and push to our limits and then go home proud of what we

Accomplished,” Senior Jacob Vazquez said.

Sophomores Gillian Noffert and Ava Jenkins, forensic partners, have been working on their piece for around two to three months.

“It’s taken a lot of practice and preparing,” Noffert said. “We put in the time and effort to improve, and actually enjoy our piece.”

Both partners rely on one another to create a vibrant story off the script while staying in sync with one another.

“I think that the strongest skill is confidence in yourself,” Jenkins said.

“I’m expecting there to be tough competition, but I’m mostly excited to participate and have the experience.”
