Journalism students competed at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson on Sept. 12, earning best design for a four-page newspaper.

Reese Cowden, Nik Shay and Larry Marczynski designed the newspaper.

Cowden, Shay and Marczynski were joined by Zara Thomas and Sara Collins. The five-person crew took their own photos, wrote their stories and were their own editors during the nine hours at the fair.

Sophia Edmonson and Kaitlyn Jolly also competed in a photography event. Edmonson won grand champion for action photos, while Jolly was the reserve champion in the same category.
