Rainy days have their fans

As the rain pounded the roof on Friday morning, some people were lulled into sleep, while others enjoyed the gloominess.

“I just like the gloominess and the rain pouring on my car on my way to work,” teacher Mitchell Welch said. “It feels like an adventure.”

In just three months of 2022, parts of Kansas went from drought-free to being in a drought

“I feel like we need the rain because my yard has two-inch cracks in it,” staff member Tonya Johnston said. “I feel like we need the rain, but I wish it happened when I didn’t have to go anywhere.”

Rain not only helps plants grow and give the earth a chance to heal from the heat, but it gives people a chance to lounge around.

“When I’m at home, I can curl up with my cats and read a book, but at school, I just want to go home,” teacher Kathleen O’Brien said.
