Humans of Derby: Miss Maycie

Kaylian Scott

Miss Maycie, who has worked at the Derby Public Library for a year, loves to read, which is why she chose to work with books. She doesn’t live in Derby but she loves working and being a part of the community.

Maycie’s greatest happiness is, “as nerdy as it sounds, I’d have to say books. They give me such joy to read them,” she said. “… It gives me and everyone else such a wide imagination. It lets you explore other people’s stories.”

Maycie is also close with family.

“They give me the chance to be loved and to have them around to support you,” she said.

As for her worries, Maycie mentioned several.

“Anxiety and fear of failure,” she said. “… In the years of being a young adult you face a lot of judgment from others and adults.”

Then Maycie whispered, “like they’re constantly watching you and to see if you fail.”
