Music students receive 1 ratings at regional solo and ensemble festival

This past Saturday, music students from DHS participated in the KSHSAA Regional Solo and Small Ensemble Festival at Wichita Heights high school. Students work very hard to prepare pieces for this event. 

There were 24 DHS students who received a 1 rating, which is the highest rating possible, and will advance to the state competition on April 27. 

“When I got a 1 on my solo, I was extremely excited,” junior Aleah Jones said. “Since it was my first competition solo, I had no idea what to expect. The 1 is a great accomplishment, and I am thrilled to be able to go to the state festival.”

The following students qualified for the state festival:

Abby Belisle – Clarinet

Paloma Gomez – Clarinet

Sophia Rogers – Clarinet

Sophie Segelke – Clarinet

Liam Pfenninger – Alto Saxophone

Henry Blagg – Trumpet

Ariauna Stewart – Trumpet

Brandon Beal – Horn

Dustin Anderson – Tuba

Josh Stroot – Tuba

Mackenzie Cunningham – Snare/Rudimental Drum

Jared Hays – Snare/Rudimental Drum

Jeana Jacobucci – Snare/Rudimental Drum

Savannah Linot – Snare/Rudimental Drum

Elias Stewart – Xylophone

Abrie Mong – Vocal and Violin

Penelope Harrison – Vocal

Alyanne Jones – Violin

Hailey Maddox – Viola

Ashlyn Snead – Viola

Gabe Dibben – Cello

Aleah Jones – Cello
