Two Derby students won Smoothie King’s February student of the month awards

Smoothie King representative Troy Bruns gave a $25 gift card to each of the February Smoothie King students of the month, winners junior Hunter Torres and freshman Bryce Schreiber.

Panther Publications teamed up with Smoothie King to create a student of the month program. Each month two winners are selected, one based on teacher recommendations and one based on a photo competition.

Junior Hunter Torres was selected as the teacher-recommended winner. An email was sent out to P.E., winter sports and health-related activities teachers/sponsors. Torres was recommended for his dedication in lifetime fitness.

According to the nomination, Torres has been in lifetime fitness every semester since his freshman year, he never misses class, works hard and is dedicated to health and fitness.  Torres is also involved in ROTC, is a good leader and is responsible.

Freshman Bryce Schreiber won the photo contest. An email was sent out through the Derby Publications account asking for photo submissions. His was picked as one of the four best quality. The final four photos were put in a Twitter poll and the highest number of votes won.

Be sure to watch out for an email from Derby Publications for your shot to win the March Smoothie King photo competition.
