Journalism student of the day: Leah Khanu

Leah Khanu, who is a junior in her first year of yearbook, introduced fruit to work nights. It was such a hit that her fellow journalists started eating more fruit than cookies.

There’s still plenty of cookies being consumed, but Khanu has also made her presence known in other ways. An excellent designer, she jumped into yearbook by showcasing her skills. She has a wonderful eye for design and a willingness to push the limits.

But she’s also willing to teach. She has realized how much work yearbook entails, so when a fellow journalist wanted to learn how to design an infographic, Khanu offered help.

That’s just how Khanu is. She has a gentleness about her with a ready smile.

Khanu loves music, food and art.

And she most appreciates production editor Abby Glanville, who will be the editor in chief of the 2019 yearbook.

“She basically puts herself through torture to make sure that the whole team doesn’t fail. I don’t know how she can spend so much time working on something that almost kills her every time,” Khanu wrote.
