According to Kathleen O’Brien, a HOSA sponsor, e-mailed the following information.

“We gave every homeroom a bag to collect new socks. Socks are one of the most needed items for homeless shelters and the least donated. The students had a contest and Mr. Belsan’s homeroom collected the most socks. The building collected more than 800 pairs of socks! We will be splitting the donation between ESS Episcopal Social Services and the Jaydoc outreach.
KUSOM Homeless Outreach is the product of a collaboration between Jaydocs Community Clinic, Guadeloupe Clinic, and Church on the Street. Every other month for the past year, Jaydocs and Guadeloupe Clinic have been bringing free preventative healthcare to Wichita’s homeless population via Church on the Street. The Church holds services and feeds the homeless community every Sunday in a donated dirt lot behind Bite Me BBQ. With gracious invitation from the Church, Jaydocs and Guadeloupe Clinic are able to hold Outreach events that provide the community with access to essential healthcare measures such as blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, and basic physical exams.
