Panther Personalities is a section where the publications staff interviews individuals, getting to know the school a little better.

Sophomore Sydney Saindon, a veteran in classic car knowledge, isn’t your average teenage clunker. Saindon and her family have obtained around 60 classic cars over many years, restoring them back to their former glory.

“My dad’s first car that he restored was a Mustang, and then from there on out he just kept getting more and more cars,” Saindon said.

Her family has collected so many cars they had to move to five acres of land with enough barns to store all of them.

Saindon and her family travel all over the U.S. to car shows, meeting new people and winning prizes. “Flammer,” a Ford Falcon, appropriately named so because of the flames streaming across its sides, has won nine national titles and has received recognition from multiple newspapers.

“My dad built that car up from the ground,” Saindon said. “And I helped paint that car when I was 4 years old.”

However, refurbishing cars is not her only hobby; Saindon is also an artist. And she has found a way to combine her two passions.

“This year I’m planning on setting up at car shows and nationals, and I’m going to start drawing cars for money,” Saindon said.

Loving cars was instilled in Saindon from a young age. Her love has grown and evolved to encompass other aspects of her life as well, such as art, and Saindon is able to live out her passions in her daily life.
