Football’s home advantage

Because of the Panthers two losses this season, they were put into a coin toss situation to decide whether or not they would have home-field advantage for playoffs.

The toss was held between Derby and Garden City. The Panthers won the advantage.

“I think it’s a huge advantage, just being able to have three games at home,” senior quarterback Brock Zerger said. “Obviously the home crowd (helps), especially in the playoffs because a lot of the teams can be a couple of hours away so it’s a little hard to keep focus, but when we have a big crowd, that always comes out, it’s huge. Especially since the last game will probably be at Manhattan and we want to win that one really bad.”

Derby is set to play Topeka on Friday.
