Each year, Student Council members travel to an elementary school to meet their second-grade buddies. The high schoolers make the trip four times, but letters are sent back and forth throughout the year to keep in touch. Then, as a final hurrah in May, the second graders come to the high school for a tour and fun activity.

StuCo traveled to Swaney Elementary School on Friday, just a short bus ride from the high school.

The second graders were excited to meet and get to know their high school pals. The buddies filled out ‘All About Me’ worksheets and talked about various topics ranging from their favorite animal to what they’re going to be for Halloween.

They also had donuts to chow down on while they were talking, which was definitely a highlight of the morning.

However, the high schoolers soon had to bid farewell to their second grade comrades.

After the visit, senior Tiffany Way recalled her favorite part of seeing her buddies.

“My favorite part of this morning was getting to see the excitement on my buddies’ faces when we got paired up,” Way said.
