Senior Brandon Becker made a non-binding oral commitment to wrestle at Cowley College on Nov. 1. He plans to pursue a degree in welding and engineering.

Becker had his eyes set on Cowley since its coaches contacted him about attending his school. He said that he didn’t even bother looking into other colleges.

“I really like the coaches, and I felt like I wanted to be a part of building a new program from the ground up,” Becker said.

Cowley did not have a wrestling program until the fall of this year. Since the wrestling program was nonexistent until recently, Becker will use his four years of high school wrestling experience to aid the program.

“For wrestling, (I’m) just trying to work toward the best of my abilities in high school to reach the next level of wrestling,” Becker said about preparing for college. “In academics, I’m kind of just going with the flow right now.”
