Tips for seniors as deadlines approach

Abby Glanville

College deadlines are fast approaching.

Most colleges require FAFSA, general applications and scholarship applications by Dec. 1, if they aren’t priority deadlines.

That is less than a month away.

In the midst of trying to keep up with homework, work, sleep and enjoying senior year, seniors are also supposed to plan their futures.

It’s a little rough, so here are some tips to handle it and not be overwhelmed.

  1. Figure out what needs to be done and when
    1. College websites likely have a calendar of all their deadlines. If not, contact a counselor at that school.
  2. Make little goals
    1. For example, four scholarship essays are due on Dec. 3. Finish two a week, so there’s time at the end of the month to revise them.
  3. Share with a friend or family member
    1. Having someone else hold you accountable for these deadlines is helpful.
  4. Don’t get too caught up in your future
    1. Life will happen whether you’re ready for it or not. Just accept what’s coming your way and go from there.
