Throughout fall and winter, Derby High School has many opportunities to help others.

Teacher turkey recently took place — congratulations to Robert Buzzi for winning yet again — and Operation Holiday is in effect.

The Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is sponsoring the toy and food drive as part of Operation Holiday. There also is a homeroom competition.

Operation Holiday began on Nov. 20. AFJROTC cadets picked up donated supplies on Nov.14 and will continue twice a week for each homeroom. The drive ends on Dec. 6.

It’s not too late for students to bring in canned foods into their homerooms. The homeroom that wins the competition for the most items donated will have a pizza party.
