The Derby boys basketball team had its last game before the holidays on Dec. 19 at Salina South (1-5).

The Panthers won 77-60 and are now on a three-game winning streak.

Hoping to continue that streak into the new year, the Panthers play at the Hutchinson Salthawks (1-4) tonight.

The Panthers, who didn’t have all their players due to the football team playing in the Class 6A title game, benefited from time without a game. During the 17-day stretch between games, the Panthers had some things they planned to work on before the season returned in full swing.

“I think we’re gonna be practicing plays, new plays and stuff, just getting on the court a lot more with the guys,” senior Bryant Mocaby said. “Because we’re getting there. We just haven’t been on the court as much as all the other teams have.”
