Spring sports recap (May 7-12)

This week was packed full of senior nights.

*Softball played its last home game of the regular season against Salina Central on Tuesday honoring five seniors: Olivia DePew, Kiya McManus, Addison Parks, Brooke Prunier and Olivia Steinert.

The Panthers swept the doubleheader 14-0, 11-1.

*Baseball had its last home game of the regular season on Tuesday against Salina Central where the Panthers swept the Mustangs 13-2, 8-6.

On Thursday Derby traveled to Westurban in Wichita for games against Dodge City and Wichita Southeast.

The Panthers beat Dodge City 9-6 after trailing until the top of the seventh, then destroyed Southeast 23-0.

*Girls soccer had its last home game of the regular season on Tuesday against Andover honoring six seniors: Adrianna Gutierrez, Madalyn Liebst, Rileigh Mahoney, Quinn Meyer, Keyana Moore-Martinez and Lexi Winkle.

The Panthers beat the Trojans 1-0 after double overtime on Tuesday, and on Thursday they played in Rose Hill dominating the Rockets 11-1.

Freshman Brianna Moore ended the regular season with 31 goals.

*Girls swim had league in Salina on Friday and Saturday.

Two divers — Courtney Bailey and Sophia DiGregorio — placed second and third.

*Track had league on Thursday at Maize. Girls placed fifth while the boys took sixth.

*Boys varsity tennis took five players to compete in state in Topeka on Friday.

Three boys placed: Jarrett Bowman placed 12th in singles, Daniel Dunn and Clayton Simmons took 10th in doubles.

*Boys varsity golf played in league on Tuesday in Salina.
