If someone asked me who my favorite super hero is, I would say Kamen Rider.

I wanted to write this opinion because I felt Kamen Rider is very underrated, and I wanted more people to know about it. So take this as my take on a guide for Kamen Rider.

Three eras of Kamen Riders follow the era of the ruling emperor of Japan at the time. From 1971 to 1989, there was the Showa era, from 1989 to 2019 was the Heisei era, and currently is the Reiwa era.

If you want a quick answer to which Kamen Rider you should start with, whatever looks coolest.

Aside from some anniversary series and other circumstances, Kamen Rider series are usually self-contained stories with events that don’t really affect other series. 

So if you want a detective story, there’s Kamen Rider W; if you want a series that’s more akin to a J-Drama, you can watch something from early Heisei with Kuuga and Faiz.

Or if you don’t want to take the time to watch a series, then there’s Shin Kamen Rider, which is a reboot of the original 1971 Kamen Rider. 

Maybe you want something modern from the Reiwa era. One series is Geatz, a battle royale death game. 

Although you could just watch Zetz, which is currently the newest Kamen Rider series. 

If none of these sounded interesting go look for one that is. Kamen Rider is one of those series where it’s all opinion, and someone’s least favorite rider is another one’s beloved. 

I really hope more people get into Kamen Rider because I feel like a lot of people who I talk to only know about anime/manga, but nothing about Kamen Rider or Tokusatsu.
