In high school, love is hard to miss. It’s almost impossible to walk down the hallways without seeing a couple holding hands or locked tightly in a hug before being separated by the bell’s loud ring.
But it isn’t only the students who are crazy about each other. Actually, it’s not uncommon to catch teachers in the same lovey-dovey situations.
After all, how would you be able to stay away from your partner after being married for almost 34 years?
Kristin Wells has taught in the school district for almost 16 years, and her husband, Dale, followed in her footsteps, starting his work as a substitute teacher about three years ago.
“We really enjoy working with each other. When he is on plan he will come say hi and check in on me. It’s really nice to work in the same building with him,” Kristin said.
When he first started his journey as a substitute, he would only come in on the days he needed work. However, that changed when he was offered a position as a long-term sub in the math department.
Though it was a challenge for him, he enjoyed it enough to come back the next year as a long-term substitute in the drama department. He’s now back again this year, subbing in for Melinda Keen in the history department until she comes back.
Where most couples would crumble under the proximity of working in the same building, their relationship continues to grow and even thrive in these conditions.
“We would both marry each other again. Yep, we truly love each other and love spending time together, a match made in heaven.” Kristin said.
