A seven-year reign over the pool will be put to the test on Feb. 14 at the AVCTL I league swim meet at Maize.
The boys have won seven in a row, but can the team extend it to eight straight?
“I think as long as we swim as a team and as a family we can win league,” junior Harrison Hallock said. “We have shown what our highs are and what our lows are, but our highs are way more impressive than our lows.”
It doesn’t help that junior leader Reed Parkhurst underwent surgery on his knee.
“Going into the season still having Reed, I felt great,” Hallock said. “Now we definitely have to swim as a team and stay together to earn this eighth league title in a row.”
Parkhurst didn’t just sit out, though. He went to meets to coach, and he plays a big role on the team even while being injured.
The dive team this year is much better than years previously. Three divers have qualified for state: junior Jaxon Baxter, junior Tatum Johnson and freshman Oliver Savaiano
This will help make up for things like losing Parkhurst, and losing a talented senior class last year.
“I want to help my team as much as possible,” Johnson said. “I want to break the school records, but helping my team is the most important thing for me,”
Most importantly the boys’ relays have to be firing on all cylinders if they want to have a chance at winning.
“All of our relays scoring at least some points is the most crucial part of the day for us to win,” Hallock said.
