Bowling, JROTC, a job, choir: it sounds like a giant burden that no one would want to carry.
Except for senior Neveah Jacobs. She loves occupying her time with recreational and academic pursuits to keep her busy.
“I don’t like being idle,” Jacobs said. “I’m not a fan of not doing anything…I hated not having anything to do.”
Her interest in singing led her from an elementary school hobby to a pursuit in high school Madrigals, Philharmonic and Bellcanto, all higher levels of choir.
She added a three-year varsity bowling streak to the mix, along with a job she’d recently started at Culver’s in Derby. Even if it sounds like she’s done, there’s even more.
She’s worked for four years in JROTC that sprouted from her parents’ pressure. One may think she would have hated it by now.
“I definitely did (grow to love it),” Jacobs said. “(My) first four years was drill, sophomore year was Color Guard, and last year I was varsity Color Guard.”
Jacobs immerses herself in her work life with a strong passion to keep working harder, and thanks to her schedule, she will always have plenty of opportunities to do just that.
