“Swim isn’t even a hard sport.”
Those are words I have heard before, and honestly, that is completely wrong.
You work almost every muscle in your body while swimming. You have to stay basically parallel with the water, which is harder said than done, and there are so many more things that make swim hard.
The girls on the swim team put in so much effort every single year so that we can be successful. We have won seven straight league titles and we’re hoping to get our 8th this year, and I just wish we got more recognition.
Just because swim may not always get packed crowds or a lot of attention doesn’t make it any less than other sports.
“Swim is so easy, anyone can do it.”
People don’t realize how exhausting practices can be. We have 5 a.m. practice everyday which is so draining. I have to push myself everyday to get out of bed.
Another thing is that you don’t do good at every meet and it sucks. It’s so sad thinking you swam your best just to see you added time.
If swim is so easy, why don’t you join?
I wish we had more people join the swim team. Swimming can be very beneficial for you, no matter what. If you do a different sport, it can help you with that. And if you don’t do a sport, it’s still beneficial to stay in shape.
At the end of the day, swim teaches hard work, dedication and perseverance. The team deserves more recognition for everything we accomplish. I hope more people start to realize how much effort swimmers put in everyday.
