Derby track & field girls take first at Winfield, boys take fifth

Derby High School track opened its season at Winfield on Monday.

 

The girls won, while the boys got fifth.

 

The 400 girls relay team of Mia Agpoon, Chloe Igo, Jada Hopson and Aneesa Abdul-Hameed won in 51.59.

 

Nalah Stokes tied for first in pole vault, going 8-6.

 

Derby swept the top three spots in the girls 200 meters — Abdul-Hameed finished first in 27.10, Hopson was second in 28.24, and Igo finished third in 28.32 seconds.

 

Kinley Fager, who is in her first season throwing discus and javelin. She set a personal record of 95 feet, 9 inches in discus, finishing fourth.

 

The Panthers next varsity meet is Friday at Maize High School.
