As the new year shines upon the horizon, Derby High School fills with students roaming the halls, searching for new classes and old friends.

Looking forward to all kinds of new experiences with the new block schedule, goals for the school year form in students’ minds.

“(I want) to advance in a couple classes (math) and kind of learn a lot more than I did last year,” freshman Taylre Ward said – hope in her eyes.

As they wander through the loud halls of their new school, students meet all kinds of new people – new friends.

“I have met some great people and some great teachers,” freshman France Cueto said.

These goals spread through the school as students start seeing the future possibilities.

“I’m looking forward to my Intro to Industrial Tech because I feel like that’s the career pathway that I want to go into,” junior Trenton Ybarra said.

The beginning of the 2022-2023 year is a year filled with change, and even with all these changes, students continue to stay positive and look forward to their new year.

“I just want to stay positive and to spread positivity to other people,” Ybarra said.
