With expectations always high for the Derby football program, the Panthers did not disappoint in the season opener on Friday.

On the first play of the game, senior Hunter Igo took the kickoff 80 yards, immediately giving Derby the upperhand.

The Panthers cruised to a 49-6 win over Garden City, thanks to three touchdowns by junior Tre Washington, as well as two more scores by Grant Adler including one rushing.

The ball hawking defense of Derby forced three interceptions and gave up two first downs in the first half.

It was definitely an impressive way to start the 2018 season.
