The Panthers girls basketball team takes on the undefeated Andover Central Jaguars tonight to continue their three-game test of wills.

“We’ve seen the little mistakes that we are making and working on getting better along with staying together as we played harder teams,” junior Jada Hopson said.

The Panthers, who are ranked eighth by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, lost the last two by a combined five points. They lost to McPherson, ranked third in Class 4A, on late free throws Friday. On Saturday, they lost to Blue Valley North, ranked seventh in 6A, by three.

Derby plans to bounce back tonight.

“Andover Central is a pretty good team,” senior Derryana Cobbins said. “We just have to be the better one tonight.”

Andover Central is unbeaten and ranked first in Class 5A.

Derby’s other loss is to Maize, which is ranked third in 5A.
