Derby boys edge Campus in thriller

The entire game was close. The fourth quarter was no different. Look at the scoreboard.

Tension was felt on both sides. Neither team gave up easily.

But the Panthers finished their second home game with their second straight win 75-74 over Campus.

Senior Bryant Mocaby, who had his second straight game with 16 points, and junior Clayton Hood, who had a new game-high 13 points, were key at the free-throw line in the last 60 seconds.

With 3.5 seconds left, Hood stepped to the free-throw line with the score tied at 74-all.

Hood made the first. But after he missed the second, the Colts had a mad race down the court to end the game with one final shot.

The shot didn’t fall. Buzzer.

The time of Campus led the game was limited, once early in the fourth quarter.

Both teams scored 43 points in the second half, but Derby led by one point at halftime, 32-31.
