Tips to maintaining a positive attitude through finals week

From a girl who has taken 42 finals

  • Remember why you are here

School is just the journey. Remember your goals. You are going through all of this to make whatever change in this world you had in mind.

  • Winter Break

Keep in mind that winter break is just a few days away. Yes, you do have to go through eight tests before getting there, but soon enough you can watch all the Christmas movies you want and drink all of the hot cocoa in the world.

  • Relax. Breaks are good.

Studying can drain positivity out of the most positive person in the world. So please, do yourself a favor and CHILL. These grades are not going to determine your whole entire life. Take a lap, enjoy a funny movie and don’t forget to stress eat.

  • Study with friends, go to Starbucks.

Sitting at home can be distracting. Call up a buddy, grab some coffee and cram in your reviews together. Try to stay on topic, though.

  • Chew gum

Not sure if this is a myth or not, but it couldn’t hurt. If you chew gum while you study, chewing that same flavor while taking the test can actually help you remember what you had studied.

  • Celebrate

Don’t forget that amongst all the stress and exhaustion, it is the most festive time of the year. Get out there, go look at Christmas lights and build a snowman (or pretend to). You’re going to do fine.

  • Pass

You are going to crush it. I have no doubt. Now go get ’em, Tiger.
