A variety show is something that every choir student looks forward to. The dancing, costumes and fun songs make for a thrilling combination.

The annual pops concert, which is at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Derby High, will be featuring a Broadway theme this year.

As a senior, these concerts are going to be extremely emotional. A senior song will be sung to honor graduating seniors. The song is called “Wherever You Go”… so you can gather that there will be many tears.

Derby High School has five different choirs, who each have a song. There is an opening song and a closing song, which all students will be participating in.

I cannot wait for the audience participation. The reaction that each audience member has is what the show feeds off. I am expecting a very hype evening.

The only setback that this concert encounters is the amount of time each student has to memorize the lyrics, notes, rhythm, diction, vowels AND choreography. There is about a two-week turnaround between the state competition and the end-of-the-year variety show
