Panthers football handles Lawrence, wet conditions

The Panthers pushed through the wet, cold conditions to defeat visiting Lawrence 76-28 on Friday night to advance in the Class 6A playoffs. 

The Panthers raced to a 27-0 lead in the first quarter, although Lawrence finally responded. The Lions chipped away at that lead, getting to within 34-22 in the second quarter. 

With the help of seniors Dylan Edwards and Brock Zerger, the Panthers pulled away at half with a 55-22 lead.

Edwards had another phenomenal game, finishing with six touchdowns, including a 56-yard receiving touchdown and an 86-yard rushing TD. He also had a 49-yard TD and a 31-yarder and finished with 206 rushing yards, on 13 carries, as well as 87 receiving yards.

Zerger threw for two touchdowns and 160 yards, and also had 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers (8-2) will play host to Washburn Rural on Nov. 11.
